As per new fssai rules and regulations, all the manufacturer of packaged and natural mineral water are not allowed to manufacture, sell or exhibit packaged drinking water and natural mineral water without Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Certification. BIS certification and Fssai license is mandatory for manufacturing and selling the packaged drinking water and natural mineral water. In the recent times, during the time of inspection by the food safety officers it is found that many manufacturer of packaged drinking water is operating and selling the packed water without fssai license as well as BIS certification. From now as per new guidelines, it is illegal to manufacture, sell, exhibit the packaged drinking water and natural mineral water without Fssai license and BIS Certification. It is also point to be noted that as per fssai rules and regulations, the manufacturer of packaged drinking water is also not allowed to use fancy name or abbreviation of the product and use the name keeping in mind the rules prescribed under FSS (Advertising and Claims) Regulations, 2018.
