  1. Basic FSSAI Registration: Basic FSSAI registration is required for small food businesses such as petty food manufacturers, small-scale food processors, and food hawkers. The validity period of a basic FSSAI registration is five years.

  2. State FSSAI License: A state FSSAI license is required for medium-sized food businesses such as small and medium-sized manufacturers, distributors, and suppliers. The validity period of a state FSSAI license is five years.

  3. Central FSSAI License: A central FSSAI license is required for large food businesses such as importers, exporters, and large-scale manufacturers. The validity period of a central FSSAI license is five years.

It is important to note that the FSSAI license or registration must be renewed before the expiry of its validity period to continue operating the food business.

The renewal process involves submitting a fresh application with the required documents and fees to the FSSAI. Failure to renew the license/registration before the expiry date can lead to penalties and legal consequences. Therefore, it is crucial to keep track of the validity period of the FSSAI license/registration and ensure timely renewal.
